Stewardship Squad has upcoming events! Some of our event-host partner organizations have decided to host groups up to 12 people–hooray! There will be COVID protocols per each host's policies (masks, distancing, paperwork, etc.).
For the upcoming Thursday 2/11 event, please RSVP to Green Tukwila here.
We look forward to volunteering with you again!

COVID Update December 2020
Happy Winter Solstice! On this darkest day of the year, I am pleased to announce some bright news–that it is my expectation that we can have Squad work parties with greater than five volunteers in the new year! Eight to twelve people is likely beginning mid January. It looks like guidance from the Governor’s office will categorize stewardship events as ‘Outdoor Guided Activities’ in the state’s Safe Start plan.
How we have missed working together in nature! Pilot stewardship events with COVID protocols have been successful and nourishing. And the noxious weeds have flourished in our absence. I hope you have found local household-centered ways to engage in stewardship during Squad’s pandemic hiatus.
We look forward to working together again soon! Happy Holidays and be well.
Upcoming events suspended pending COVID-19
COVID-19 July Update
Squad misses you! While the status of King County’s Safe Start opening limits classes and gatherings to five people outside your household, it is not very feasible to run the Homeschool Stewardship Squad. That said, evidence continues to build that physically-distant outdoor gatherings are a largely safe form of the nourishing connection we all need with each other, our communities and of course nature.
I am in conversation with Squad’s event host partners to stay abreast of their COVID policies regarding re-opening work parties. We all long to return to get back at it, the bindweed and blackberry certainly isn’t social distancing!
Take care.
Happy 50th Earth Day!
UPCOMING EVENTS for the Homeschool Stewardship Squad (2nd Thursdays & 4th Wednesdays 11a-2p)

Wed 5/27: (location TBD, pending COVID-19 guidance)
Cottonwood Corner Planting & Play
Spring was abloom at Cottonwood Corner including the weeds! Squad took advantage of the end of the planting season to put a donation of two dozen native plants in the ground. Last summer’s extra rain produced a terrific rate of survival, the fresh buds were a pleasure to see.
Cottonwood Corner, via the auspices of the Green Tukwila Partnership, is developing nicely and continues to be a favorite place for kids of all ages to work, hang out and explore. The fun day turned out to be bittersweet as we learned during the event that schools would be closed for weeks due to COVID-19. This was the last time we saw each other before the coronavirus lockdown, how lucky to have had such a nourishing day together!
We look forward to seeing you safely outside again, in the meantime, enjoy some hyper-local stewardship with your household!
